Puppy Training Videos - How I Finally Trained My Dogs

Wednesday, March 2, 2011

Every puppy needs some training. Housebreaking is the first thing to start. Since puppies will grow up to be bigger dogs, training in basic obedience, leash training and manners, especially manners, are also very necessary to have a dog that is well behaved and respects your home and property. How you do it is up to you, but I found that using puppy training videos made the task a whole lot easier.

There is nothing more undesirable in a dog than making a mess in the house, jumping on your guests or excessive barking. You can send your puppy or adult dog to obedience school, but you still must continue the training after he graduates to cement the bond between owner and dog.

Training your dog requires that you first learn how to do a proper job of training. There are a lot of "trainer materials" out there that will give you guidance about how to do the most effective training. But, most of us learn best by seeing how something is done then practicing it. This is where dog or puppy training videos come into play.

The idea of using videos for training is not new. Training videos have been around as long as motion pictures, but only recently has the technology gotten so commonplace and easy to use that almost anyone can make an instructional video that anyone with a computer can watch. Just look at the popularity of internet sites like YouTube and MySpace. Videos can present much more understandable information in a show and tell method than dozens of pages of printed material. It is unfortunate that your puppy cannot learn by watching the video. The next best thing is to use videos to learn how to train your dog in a manner that is effective and lasting.

The reasons videos are so effective should be obvious. I have been using videos for almost thirty years and personally, I have found them to be a great way to present a lot of information in a short time. As reference material, when learning how to do a task, the steps are always the same. And, videos on your computer can be watched anywhere and anytime at your convenience. These are all important reasons why dog training videos are a good idea when you want to train your puppy and continue his training after he is an adult.

The question is "where do you get puppy training videos"? Videos on your computer are the new type of e-books. When I needed training information, I chose a program that had pictures, audio and detailed videos that would help me do effective training for my adult dogs. The techniques work just as well with puppies, but I had a couple of dogs that liked to jump on people and barked at almost everything. I used a program by Dove Creswell that presented various methods for each command and change in behavior.

I was a little put off because there was no e-book offered, but the training was much easier after I watched and listened to her explanation while she demonstrated her techniques.

Training your puppy to be a socially acceptable and enjoyable part of your family starts from the minute you bring him into your home. I know from experience that proper training, with patience, consistency and persistence is the only way to make sure that your puppy becomes a happy, well adjusted dog that you and your family will enjoy in the years that come. Make the decision to get the best information you can when it comes to training. It is a great investment and time saver.

Puppies are wonderful animals and create a lot of excitement when they arrive in your home. Puppies grow into bigger dogs and if they are not trained properly, they quickly become burdens. As pet owners, we have to learn how to train our dogs to be good citizens and this task takes time and effort. Find out about the techniques I used to solve my unwanted doggie behavior by clicking here and check out the program for yourself.
