Training a Yorkie to do anything is fun and challenging. Obedience training is very important for them, but being Terriers they have a very strong will. They are highly intelligent and often want to do only what they want to do. Despite their small size, they do not see themselves as small dogs. More like a Great Dane in a small package, because most of them have very strong attitudes. They can have a tendency to be yappy when they get excited, so an obedient quiet command would be nice to know. They have great hearing and are great watch dogs, even tho they are small. These little dogs are great companions, as all they really want is to be with their human partner. I have had the honor of living with Yorkshire Terriers for 14 years and I have learned alot from them, probably more than they have learned from me. They do have very definite personalities and they are all different, but they will make you smile. And we can all use a smile these days!
